Gradual changeover to self-managed editorial access

The goal

We want to automate the process of giving an editor access to a website and thus speed it up for you.

The solution

We use an existing technical structure based on cost centers. In future, the cost center owner will enter the editors of the organizational unit at https://am.rz.rptu.de.

After the entry, the new editor can log in and work on the relevant web pages.

General conditions

  • 1-3 editors depending on the size of a website
  • more editors initially support each other
  • all editors have completed our current Typo3 training courses (we reserve the right to restrict access accordingly)
  • all editors have equal access to the page tree
  • Responsibility for different areas is regulated by work instructions
  • All editors are automatically added to the rz-typo3redakteure mailing list. It is not possible to unsubscribe.
  • Future emails about incorrect links will be sent to all registered editors

The changeover

We have to assign the websites to the corresponding cost centers manually and need some time to do this. Therefore: the accounts of the editors can already be entered in https://am.rz.rptu.de (administration from next week), but depending on our progress, access will not be immediate. You can see from the background image in the Typo3 backend if your installation is already connected.

The special cases

No cost center suitable

Projects, groups, degree programmes etc. do not have their own cost center. Here we make the assignment to an existing cost center. An example: If the website for a degree programme is managed by faculty A from faculty B, we use the cost center of faculty A for this degree programme. This means that all editors from faculty A have access.

Shared websites

If several organizational units are working on a website for which there is no cost center, we can assign all cost centers of the organizational units involved if desired. This means that all editors of the organizational units involved can then work on the pages.

"Exotics"

For "exotics", we will find a solution that is sustainable and does not require any technical somersaults.
