central printing service

The RHRZ Druckausgabe printing service will close for this year on Friday, Dec. 22, at 3 p.m.

It will not be possible to pick up completed printouts after that time.

Please note that print jobs placed in the queue between Dec. 22, 2023, and the end of the year cannot be processed and will be automatically deleted after 5 days. Please do not queue new jobs again until the new year 2024.

As of January 2, 2024, service will resume as usual.

The RHRZ Druckausgabe is the central printing services division at the RHRZ in Kaiserslautern. The printing service is staffed with a wide variaty of different printers ranging from DIN A4 up to DIN A0. The service is available for both staff and students of the RPTU in Kaiserslautern.

Quota

All members of the RPTU, students and staff will receive credit points to be used for printing services.

The credit points or quotas will be awarded at the beginning of each month and can be accumulated throughout the semester.

Once a semester, on the 1. of March and the 1. of September all the accumulated credit points or quotas will be reset for student accounts (incl. Students GF) and course accounts.

The special quotas for student organisations and the staff of the RPTU will not be reset but can reach a maximum of 6 monthly quotas.

In this way the various print volumes can be balanced in a more efficient way.

*Students GF (GF=Großformat, meaning large-format) will receive the credit points as listed in the chart. Students may become am member of the user group Student GF if they are a member of one of the authorized faculties and with the approval of the dean of their faculty.

Cost

Depending on the print job (size, color or black and white), a certain number of points per printed page will be deducted from the print credit after the print job is completed, 1 point for an A4 page in black and white, and correspondingly more for color or larger printouts.
In addition, a cover sheet is created for each (DIN A4 or DIN A3) print job and charged after printing, at the black and white rate of the selected printer.

Please note, that the web portal is a local area network site, that can be reached within the university network or by using a VPN connection when outside the university network.

The expenses caused by the printing services will monitored continuously. Based on this monitoring process and the resulting expenses, the monthly quotas can be readjusted. A conversion of credit points to a monetary value is not possible.

Printer of the RHRZ Druckausgabe

The DIN A4 and DIN A3 devices of the Druckausgabe are accessed via queues that are assigned to specific device types.

All available printers are already installed on the computers in the terminal pools / pc pools of RHRZ in Kaiserslautern and Landau and on the remote desktop servers (terminal servers) of the RHRZ.

Operating and Opening Hours of the RHRZ Druckausgabe

You can place your print orders 24/7. Your orders will be placed in a queue that will be processed during the operating hours of the RHRZ Druckausgabe.

Operating Hours

Since printer utilization fluctuates greatly during the the semester, it is not possible to specify general operating hours.

The operation in the RHRZ Druckausgabe will be extended from a core operating time to an operating time of up to 12 hours, depending on print volume and staff availability.

Core operating hours:
Monday through Friday: 9:00 hrs to 15:30 hrs

Max. operating hours:
Monday to Friday: 7:00 hrs to 19:00 hrs

Picking up completed printouts

You can collect your completed print jobs in the pick-up room of the RHRZ Druckausgabe (34/256) during regular building opening hours.

Find out about the current status of your orders in the web portal
Normally, your printouts are ready for you in the pick-up room within an hour after completion.
