Your personal workspace on the RHRZ servers
The RHRZ provides all members of the RPTU with a personal work environment on its servers. You connect from your device to one of the RHRZ's terminal servers/remote desktop servers and log in with your RPTU account. This will take you to your personal Linux or Windows desktop. Here you have access to your personal user directory and extensive software provided by the server. Your device only takes over the display and control, the programs are executed on the server.
Regardless of whether you connect from the office, from home or from one of the devices in the RHRZ terminal pools, you always work in the same working environment, with your saved data and personal settings. This means you can continue working right where you last left off.
The RHRZ offers its users access to Linux and Windows servers in dialog mode as well as to a high-performance computer for computing-intensive tasks. These pages provide an overview of the available systems and their performance as well as the internal and external access options to the systems.
Linux terminal servers (dialog servers) are available for working under Linux, while Windows remote desktop servers (terminal servers) are available for working under Windows.
The high-performance computer 'Elwetritsch' bundles the resources available at RPTU for high-performance computing and is available to all RPTU researchers.
Rangee clients are used at RPTU for flexible access to the servers, e.g. also from the home office. We have compiled detailed instructions for a quick introduction to the operation and configuration of devices with RangeeOS.
The computer workstations in the RHRZ terminal pools are already prepared for connection to the various servers. Here you can easily log on to one of the servers and access your virtual workstation.
