If, in exceptional cases, a constant IP address or a specific DNS name is required, a static DHCP IP address can be requested via a web form. The MAC address (physical address / hardware address) of the device is required for this. However, the assigned IP address can only be used after obtaining it via DHCP, but not via static configuration.
Consistent IP addresses are usually only required for printers or computers that offer server services. No application is usually necessary for connecting normal workstation computers. Please make sure that your PC is not only configured to "Obtain IP address automatically", but also to "Obtain DNS server automatically".
Only in the central DataCenter of the RHRZ is the use of DHCP not enforced; a static IP configuration is still possible there. These addresses can also be requested via the web form.
Note: The IP address spaces 131.246.0.0/16 (IPv4) and 2001:638:208::/48 (IPv6) are considered internal to the university. Only participants from these address spaces are permitted to access internal information on the TU web server.
