MAXQDA

MAXQDA is a computer program for the support and implementation of qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods research projects.
It enables the import, organization, analysis, visualization and publication of all data that can be recorded electronically - such as interviews, surveys, (PDF) documents, tables (Excel/SPSS), bibliographic data, images, videos, websites or even tweets.
Thanks to its comprehensive functionality, from transcription to inferential statistical analysis, MAXQDA is an "all-in-one" software for research and teaching in numerous disciplines.

Please note that the use of our MAXQDA licenses is subject to a fee. The licenses already available at the RHRZ are all taken. If you would like to use MAXQDA as a new user, you will need to purchase additional licenses. However, according to MAXQDA's specifications, the RHRZ currently only procures new, additional MAXQDA licenses if you order at least 5 licenses for a fee. Therefore, we currently advise against purchasing licenses via the RHRZ. It would be more cost-effective for you to purchase individual licenses yourself. In the license management system, it is not the user names but the computer names that are counted in the number of licenses used. This means that different users can work on the same end device with the same license at different times.

MAXQDA is available in various product forms.
The RHRZ currently only provides the product "MAXQDA Standard" as a purchase license to some users who share the costs as network licenses.
This software is only available for Windows and Mac, there is no LINUX version.
The licenses offered here can only be used for study and teaching purposes, commercial use is generally excluded.

Everyone who participates in these licenses receives a double non-personal installation right per license, but not for simultaneous use.

In addition, you must agree to the"joint agreements" with all other MAXQDA licensees at the TU, e.g.

1. the majority of all users decide together, weighted according to their own number of licenses,

a) which MAXQDA products (e.g. MAXQDA Standard) are used

b) and whether a chargeable update will be purchased for the current software product and the associated software version for all users using this product.

2. the minimum number of licenses for network licenses per MAXQDA product (e.g. MAXQDA Standard) is 5 licenses. This minimum order quantity of 5 licenses now also applies on the part of MAXQDA for ALL subsequent orders of network licenses. It would therefore be more cost-effective for you to obtain a single user license from MAXQDA yourself.

3. please note that if you terminate this license agreement, the costs for all other users may increase.

4. each license user is responsible for all resulting costs according to the number of licenses.

Who is entitled to use this software?

  • We only make this software available tostudents and employees of the TU for a fee as a purchase version.
Students should contact their respective teaching department. The chargeable order is placed exclusively by the respective cost center manager. Maintenance is not included in these licenses. If required, we can offer all users an inexpensive update to the current software version. These are network licenses.
With each license you purchase, you receive a double installation right for this software, but only if it is not used simultaneously. This non-simultaneous second installation can be used by all persons as long as they are members of RPTU.
If you are interested in such a license, please contact us here.
All persons/groups contributing to the costs will receive the software in our software download portal.
