Altair HyperWorks and Altair Inspire
The Altair programs included in our contract are divided into two packages:
- Altair HyperWorks - HyperWorks is a comprehensive CAE package with numerous included programs for detailed simulation, optimization and data analysis.
- Altair solidThinking - The SolidThinking programs impress with their intuitive user guidance and enable fast and practical application of Altair's simulation technologies.
All programs (including the partner programs) of our contract can be found here.
You can download these programs after registering with your RHRZ e-mail address at https://connect.altair.com.
You will find a selection of this software in the service portal.
Please note: After installing the software, your computer must be enabled for access through the firewall.
1. what license(s)/rights of use do we have?
We can offer you three different options for using the Altair software:
- We have an "Altair rental license - university license for non-commercial use" for all students of the TU, all employees of the TU and organizations belonging to the TU (affiliated institutes). This license also includes a 14-day borrow function and is made available for download by the RHRZ. The download portal also contains a link to offers from Altair Academic Partners, whose software can then also be used at no additional cost. More detailed information on this version can be found in the following chapters.
- After registering with Altair, students can also download a free node-restricted single-user license for their personal devices that is limited to Altair interfaces. Please also note the corresponding license conditions here.
- Furthermore, lecturers can also obtain a free single-user lecturer license for their personal devices from Altair. In this case, please contact our Altair contact person directly.
2. who is authorized to use the Altair HyperWorks software?
- All members (students, employees) of RPTU and organizations belonging to TU (e.g. "affiliated institutes").
- Other groups of persons and institutions may not use the software provided by us for licensing reasons.
In this case, please contact your software supplier directly.
Everyone who uses the software provided by us is personally responsible for ensuring that the software is only used in accordance with the scope specified in the license conditions. Please read these carefully.
3. on which hardware can the Altair HyperWorks software be used?
- The RHRZ provides this software as a network license on our powerful RHRZ servers "elwe(1, 2 or 3).rhrk.uni-kl.de".
Due to the computing power of our RHRZ servers, this is the type of use we recommend. - We also offer the option of local installation.
For local installation, the download is available in the service portal.
There you will also find all the necessary information on licensing.
After installing the software, your computer must be enabled for access through the firewall.
4 What are the costs of using the Altair HyperWorks software?
The use of this software is subject to a fee.
We only pass on the actual license costs to all users and try to allocate them fairly and equitably to all users.
The amount of these costs depends on your actual usage time and is determined by us once a year and subsequently invoiced to the organizational unit (e.g. working group, teaching area, department...) that has given us approval for your use.
5. how can you order the software?
Prerequisites
- All students at RPTU may use HyperWorks
- Employees at RPTU and organizations belonging to RPTU only need the approval of the cost centre manager of your organizational unit.
As soon as the above requirements have been met and you have received authorization to use this software, please contact us via our ticket system. You will then receive confirmation of receipt and a message when the software is available to you.
