Show user certificates

Instructions for: Certificates under Windows

General information

This guide shows you how to display your own certificates under Windows. Certificates are digital security credentials that are used, among other things, for encrypting emails or for authentication with services. You can use the Windows certificate manager to view your imported certificates, check their expiration date and ensure that they are installed correctly.

Prerequisites
  • Windows operating system
  • Installed user certificates

Step by step

Illustrated instructions

Windows Certificate Manager
Step 1: Opening the certificate manager
  • Click in the Windows search bar or (if not available) click on the Windows icon
  • Search for"Manage user certificates"
  • Open the certificate manager
Step 2: Displaying the certificates
  • Click on"My certificates" in the left sidebar of the certificate manager
  • Select the sub-item"Certificates"

All imported certificates are now displayed in this overview. Under"Expiry date" you will find the current end date for your certificates.

Note

Even if a certificate has already expired - DO NOT delete it! Old certificates may be required for further decryption of old mails - if the certificate is deleted, you will no longer be able to view encrypted mails.
