Create database

Instructions for: KeePassXC

General information

KeePassXC is a free, open-source password manager that helps you manage all your passwords securely in one place. With KeePassXC you can create and organize complex passwords and store certificates. The program supports additional security features such as the use of hardware keys and offers browser integrations for a seamless browsing experience.

Step by step

Step 1: Creating a new database
  • Start KeePassXC on your device
  • Click on "Create database"
  • Or: Go to "Database" > "New database"
Step 2: Create database details
  • Enter a name and a description (optional)
  • Then click on "Next
Step 3: Apply settings

Accept the default settings and click on "Next"

Step 4: Set master password
  • Enter a strong, unique master password
  • After you have confirmed the password, click on "Done"

NOTE

Save the master password in a safe place!

This password protects your entire database, so choose it carefully and write it down in a safe place. Do not leave it open at your workplace (e.g. as a sticky note on your monitor). If you forget the master password for the database, there is no way of accessing the data in the database.

Step 5: Select storage location

Select the desired storage location and file name for your database and click on "Save"
