Communigate mailbox in MS Outlook

In the following step-by-step instructions, you will learn how to configure your Communigate mailbox with the MS Outlook e-mail program on your Windows computer.

If you would like to use a different e-mail program or have an Exchange mailbox, take a look at the available instructions for the Communigate account or the instructions for configuring an Exchange e-mail mailbox.

Prerequisites

  • You have a Communigate e-mail inbox.

Step 1: Add account

Open MS Outlook.

Click on the menu item "File" to open the account information and select "Add account".

Step 2: Connect

Enter your e-mail address.

Activate the option "I would like to set up my account manually" and then click on "Connect".

Step 3: Advanced setup

Select IMAP.

Enter your password in the following window and select "Connect".

For security reasons, we recommend that you configure your e-mail address via IMAP as described in the following steps.

Step 4: System control

Open the Control Panel and search for the "User accounts" category.

There, select "Mail (Microsoft Outlook)".

Step 5: Mail setup - Outlook

Click on "E-mail accounts...".

Step 6: Account settings

Select your e-mail address and choose "Change" in the top menu.

Step 7: Change account

These settings should be configured:

User information
Your name: Your first and last name
Email address: Your RPTU e-mail address (e.g. rainer.zufall@rptu.de)

Server information
Account type: IMAP
Incoming mail server: mail.rptu.de
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.rptu.de

Login information
User name: Your RPTU e-mail address (e.g. rainer.zufall@rptu.de)
Password: Your RPTU password
"Save password" is selected.

After checking the entries, click on "Further settings".

Step 8: Internet e-mail settings

Set the server connection numbers to the following values:

Incoming mail server (IMAP): 993 Use default
Use the following encrypted connection type: SSL/TLS

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): 587
Use the following encrypted connection type: STARTTLS

After you have confirmed your entries with "OK", the IMAP & SMTP server is configured and you can use your Communigate mailbox with MS Outlook.
