Ad-hoc conferences with/via the telephone system

An ad-hoc conference is a dynamic, spontaneously set up and directly conducted voice conference.

This can be initiated via the existing landline connection. The number of participants depends on the type of connection.

We will be happy to provide you with information on which connection you have, whether digital or analog. Please contact us at the following e-mail address telefonie(at)uni-kl.de.

1. analog connection

The conference is also known as a three-party conference, as a third party can be added to your own connection. This means that you are on a call and want to add a third person. To do this, press the enquiry/earth key and dial the third party. When this person has answered, dial *3 and you can hold a conference call with the old and new parties. To confirm the three-party conference, all three parties will hear a tone similar to the busy signal for a short time.

2. digital connection

On most devices with a display, a conference is initiated via the menu navigation. Up to eight people can take part in the conference, who are called by the person creating the conference. Further information on this can be found in the operating instructions for the respective telephone types.

3. unified communications (UC)

This service requires access to the UC server and allows both ad-hoc and scheduled conferences to be held. For this purpose, a conference is created via the UC web browser. Further information can be found on the Telephony website.
