Unified Communications (UC)

UC is an extension of classic telephony. Among other things, UC offers you

  • the option to control all telephone functions via the web interface (link to the UC interface: https://phone.rptu.de or smartphone app (available in standard app stores);
  • a clear display of the call list and your contacts;
  • a "One Number Service" with which you can use your "university telephone number" with any telephone device (e.g. mobile devices or a landline in the home office) without incurring costs for the use of the other telephone devices;
  • a search function based on a central directory and your personal contact list;
  • if you wish, you can communicate your presence status so that other participants can see immediately whether you are currently unavailable, for example;
  • various options for setting up forwarding;
  • conduct conference calls, either scheduled or ad-hoc;
  • AND even make calls via the web browser*.

To use UC you need to register. Please fill out the form "Order UC access". UC is activated free of charge for every employee. All you need is the RHRZ ID and your own work telephone number.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at telefonie(a)rptu.de.

Please note!

UC cannot be used in conjunction with older analog devices. These would have to be replaced for a fee. We will be happy to tell you whether the type of device you have is suitable.

Different telephone systems are installed at both RPTU locations. For this reason, the UC service is initially only available in Kaiserslautern. We are working on a solution for Landau.

* In this variant, a desk phone is no longer required.

This service is not yet available at the Landau campus.

Making calls via UC web client

Telephony via the UC web client is an extension of UC access that allows you to make calls via your PC/laptop. To do this, use the audio function of your PC/laptop, preferably via a headset or a hands-free device such as you use for participating in video conferences. Alternatively, you can also use a telephone connected via USB (e.g. Gigaset Ion). There are no costs for the provision of telephony via the UC Web Client, but this must be ordered via the form Order/change UC access form.

Telephony via UC Web Client is an alternative to the classic desk phone. Like a desk telephone, the UC Web Client is assigned its own telephone number. As only one telephone number can be provided for each user, you must decide after a 14-day test phase whether you wish to continue using a desk telephone or telephony via UC Web Client.

OpenScape Mobile Pro APP

The OpenScape Mobile Pro app makes it possible to be reachable at the office number while on the move and also to make calls from this number. The app is available free of charge in the usual app stores. The configuration must be carried out according to the quick guide. It is advisable to use a service cell phone and the corresponding mobile phone card. If a mobile phone contract does not yet exist, this can be provided. A contract in the basic form does not generate any basic charges. Only call, data and SMS charges are incurred. Of course, additional options can also be booked. A cell phone is also required. Further information is available HERE.
