Web hosting: End of the grace period for the Accessibility Improvement Act (BFSG)
Dear customers,
The Barrier-Free Strengthening Act (BFSG) came into force in July 2022 and stipulates that all websites and mobile applications must be barrier-free from June 28, 2025.
We are taking the end of the grace period as an opportunity to draw your attention to all your legal obligations as the operator of a hosting package:
The obligation to comply with legal requirements lies with you as the operator!
This includes in particular
- the obligation to maintain/link an imprint
- the obligation to provide an individual privacy policy including additional information for linked social media profiles
- the obligation to obtain consent to set cookies and to analyze the page visit
- the obligation to make the entire website accessible, including all downloads and the provision of an "accessibility statement"
Important: Simply linking to corresponding pages at RPTU.de is not sufficient!
Please inform yourself about the above-mentioned obligations and consult with your local data protection officer or the legal department if necessary.
With the new law, targeted controls by supervisory authorities are to be expected for the first time. We therefore recommend that you review your website promptly and adapt it if necessary.
