Scanning on the multifunction device

Follow-me system

You can use the multifunctional devices in the Follow-me system to copy, scan and print documents in A4 or A3 format, in black and white or in color , anywhere on the Kaiserslautern campus. This service is subject to a charge. Billing via cost center is possible.

You can also copy, scan and print on the multifunctional devices in the PC pools of the RHRZ in Landau. Here, however, billing takes place via the points system of the RHRZ Druckausgabe.

 

The following instructions explain how to scan documents on a multifunctional device of your choice.

Prerequisites

  • The page format of the document you wish to scan is no larger than DIN A3.
  • Follow-me Kaiserslautern: You have loaded sufficient print credit (rebooker) or your RPTU account is activated for printing via the desired cost center.

Registration

Log in to the multifunction device by placing your chip card on the reader.

If your chip card is not yet linked to your RPTU account, you will need to enter your RPTU account name and password once.

Apply medium

Fold up the top cover and place your media face down on the scanner glass.

If you want to scan a multi-page document, you can also use the automatic document feeder. To do this, place the sheets stacked face up in the feeder at the top of the device.

In any case, make sure that your documents are not stapled, stapled or glued.

Scan

After logging in, the main menu is displayed.

To switch to the scan menu, select the"Scan" function.

Select account

On the multifunction devices in the Follow-me system, you then select how your scans are to be billed.

If the costs are to be debited from your personal print credit, select the"Use personal user account" button on the right.

For billing via cost center, select the desired cost center.

If the cost center you require is not displayed, have your RPTU account activated for printing via this cost center by the authorized cost center representative in the service portal.

 

No account selection is required in the PC pools in Landau.

Select scan target

You can have the file with your scanned document sent to your e-mail address ("Scan to e-mail") or to your personal scan folder ("Scan to folder").

Scan to e-mail

If you wish, you can edit the subject of the e-mail sent and the file name of the file created. Or you can leave the automatic values as they are.

If necessary, you can adjust the scan settings used via the"Settings" button on the right.

Select the"Start scanning" button at the bottom right to start the scanning process directly.

The e-mail will be sent to your RPTU e-mail address.

You will then find the e-mail with the PDF file of your scanned document in your e-mail inbox.

Scan to Folder

If you wish, you can edit the file name of the created file. Or you can leave it with the automatically generated name.

If necessary, you can adjust the scan settings used via the"Settings" button on the right.

Select the"Start scanning" button at the bottom right to start the scanning process directly.

Your scan folder is located at \\fp0.uni-kl.de\dfs\tmpbig\scanablage\ , on the RHRZ systems you will find it under the drive letter T:\Scanablage.

If you open the "scanablage" folder, you will see a folder named after your RPTU account name.

You will find your scanned documents in this personal folder.

Scan settings

If necessary, you can access the scan settings after selecting the scan destination (see Scan to e-mail or Scan to folder).

The following options are available:

  • Double-sided scan (1-sided / 2-sided)
  • Orientation (portrait / landscape)
  • Paper size (A3 / A4 / A5)
  • File type (PDF / TIFF / JPEG)
  • DPI (200 / 300 / 400 / 600)
  • Color printing (color / grayscale / monochrome)

 

Select the"Start scanning" button at the bottom right to start the scanning process.

Deregistration

To avoid misuse, do not forget to log out after you have finished scanning.

To do this, select the"Log out" button at the top right.

Alsoremove the last scanned medium before leaving the multifunction device.
