The homepage

What is it about?

Home pages are structured slightly differently to standard pages:

  • They divide the area for the content of the pages into a header and a content area.
  • Between the header and content, the target group pages from the corresponding navigation are displayed as icon sliders at the top right.
  • A breadcrumb navigation may be displayed between the header and content.
  • The "News slider" setting for your news list is only possible in the header area of a start page.

Use

Please use only on the root page of an institution, project, etc.

Create news sliders with few entries because of the page loading time.

Create homepage

1. to be able to create a start page, you must first select the "Start page redesign" appearance via the page properties. You can add content elements to the header area that now appears as usual.

2. add a news plug-in to this area and select "List view" as the output mode. In the settings, you can define the sorting, category, time limit and starting point as usual.

3. under "Further settings", specify the "Maximum number of data records to be created"; a maximum of 4 data records should be selected, otherwise the loading process will be delayed.

4. under "Template", select the "Template layout" slider.

Important: So that the news slider creates an inviting effect and does not "overwhelm" visitors, the news headlines should fill a maximum of 2 lines, the teaser text should be short and concise to invite visitors to continue reading. Please also note that the disruptor is always on the left-hand side of the image, so select an image with the focus on the right-hand side. So that the images in the slider are not distorted, please adjust them to the height aspect ratio.
