Set up editorial access

General conditions and instructions

About the self-administration of Typo3 editorial accounts

With the self-administration of editorial accounts, you as a website operator have the flexibility to give your new editor(s) access to edit your website without having to wait.

Access to the Typo3 backend and editing rights to the websites of an institution can be managed by the owner of the associated cost center on the RHRZ Access Management page. This is, for example, a professor, a head of department, etc.

General conditions:

  • 1-3 editors depending on the size of a website
  • more editors initially support each other
  • all editors have completed our current Typo3 training courses (we reserve the right to restrict access accordingly)
  • all editors have equal access to the page tree
  • Responsibility for different areas is regulated by work instructions

The "right" RPTU accounts for Typo3

The account

  • must be a personal first account
  • it must not be a functional account (e.g. sekretariat-xyz@rptu.de)

The "right" cost centers for Typo3

General
  • The cost center must be that of an institution (e.g. department, unit, dean's office, working group, etc.) and not of a project or similar.
  • Cost centers of projects or similar are not included in T3.
Central administration and academic institutions
  • in the central administration, the cost centers of the department heads are used, not those of the departments
  • In the case of scientific institutions, the cost centers of the management are used, not those of any existing departments
Projects, degree programs, special groups

The question here is "Which organizational unit's editors should have access to these project pages?"

  • Access is linked to access to the websites of the supervising institution(s). Example: Prof. Mustermann's working group is working on project xyz. The group of editors who are registered for his working group websites is also linked to the project pages. This means that all registered editors can edit both the WG pages and the project pages. Who is to work on what is determined by Prof. Mustermann via work instructions.
  • An access group is created for each deanery in the deanery area. The dean's offices then enter the accounts in the access group.

Step by step

Illustrated instructions

Step 1: Log in to the Access Management System

Log in to Access Management at RPTU with your RPTU access data.

Step 2: Selecting the access authorization

To select the access authorization for the TYPO3 CMS:

  1. Select the menu item "Access authorizations", then
  2. Select the menu item "Systems"
  3. Click on "Access to Typo3 as editor"

You may have to search a bit to find the entry, especially if you have access to the cost centers of several OUs (Organizational Units).

Step 3: Selecting the RPTU account to be added

Enter the RPTU account name in the "Account" field and click on send. Done!

The person with the RPTU account can then log in to the backend of the corresponding Typo3 installation and automatically has access to the websites of the assigned organizational unit (OU).

If you are unsure of the account name, you can also search for it in the search bar below.
