Backend layouts

Backend layouts are designs for the appearance of a page. These can automatically create a specialstructure for a page.

For example, backend layouts can be used to generate teasers of subpages at the bottom of each parent page. These teasers make it easier for mobile users in particular to navigate through websites.

For illustration

Three backend layouts are available

Desktop view

It is easy for desktop users to access subpages. Navigation aids are not absolutely necessary.

Mobile view (smartphone)

To make navigation easier for mobile users, teasers (see arrows) are generated by a corresponding backend layout.

Selection options

Three backend layouts are available:

1. standard page redesign with teaser of the subpages = normal page with teaser of the subpages

2. standard page redesign = normal page without teaser

3. start page redesign = backend layout for start pages (not always selectable)

1. standard page redesign with teaser of the subpages

2. standard page redesign

Teaser through backend layout

Backend layouts can be used to generate teasers from subpages.

Advantages of teasers:

  • Facilitate navigation through websites
  • Teasers make a page more dynamic and appealing
  • Arouse curiosity and entice users to"click on"
  • Informative with regard to page content
  • Only write teaser text after the website has been completed

If everything in the content has been linked in a user-friendly way, teasers can be hidden.

Editing the backend layout

  1. Select page and switch to page properties

2. select the"Appearance" tab

3. select the backend layout to be changed

4. customizebackend layout as desired

Further details

If a selection is made on a parent page under "Backend layouts (for subpages of this page)", this setting is passed on to the subpages.

On subpages, the backend layout can be changed independently of the settings on the parent page.

If you find a page with automatically created teasers, but no setting is set for the backend layouts in the page properties of this page, this may be due to the settings being passed on from parent pages.
