Rangee - WLAN

If the device has a WLAN module and a LAN connection is not possible, a wireless network connection (WLAN) can also be used. You can use the WLAN at home or your Eduroam access on campus.

For WLAN reception, the enclosed WLAN antennas must be mounted on the back of your Rangee client. See section Commissioning - Connecting.

Proceed as follows to set up.

Switch on

When you switch on your Rangee client for the first time, either the login window or an empty desktop will appear directly.
If an empty desktop is displayed without prior login, it is not necessary to log in with master access data. In this case, skip directly to the step Activate WLAN and select wireless network.

Login with master access data

Log in with the following user account: (Pay special attention to the lower case letters.)

User: administrator
Password: rangee12345qwertz

A pop-up confirms that you are now logged in with the master access data.

Close the notification window by clicking OK.

Activate WLAN and select wireless network

Click on the icon (2 arrows) at the bottom right of the taskbar to expand the network options.

If this is not already the case, check the box next to "Activate wireless network" and then select the desired network in the Wireless networks section, on campus "eduroam" or at home your private WLAN.

Network authentication

A window will open where you can log in to the network.

Eduroam

For Eduroam, make the settings as follows:

Wi-Fi security: WPA & WPA2 Enterprise
Authentication: Protected EAP (PEAP)
Anonymous identity: eduroam@uni-kl.de
Domain: radius.uni-kl.de

No CA certificate is required

PEAP version: Automatic
Inner Authentication: MSCHAPv2

Enter your RPTU account name followed by "@rhrk.uni-kl.de" as "Username" and the corresponding password under "Password".

Your private WLAN

When you log in to your private WLAN, enter the password for the selected wireless network.

Establish connection

Click on Connect to confirm the entries and connect to the WLAN network.

The WLAN symbol will now appear in the taskbar at the bottom right, indicating an existing connection to a wireless network.

The connection to the selected wireless network is automatically re-established after a loss of reception or after a restart of the Rangee client. If required, you can change this behavior by clicking on the WLAN icon and then under "Edit connections...".

Restart

After successfully setting up the Wi-Fi connection, restart the device. To do this, click on the Rangee symbol at the bottom left and select "Restart".

Disconnect WLAN connection

If you want to disconnect from a wireless network, click on the WLAN icon at the bottom right of the taskbar and then select the connection you want to disconnect.
