Introduction to the Typo3 backend

Modules

Various modules are available in the Typo3 backend.

1. the Page module is used to store and edit specific content, based on the frontend.

2. the Display module is used to view the frontend within the backend.

3. the List module is used to manage data records in folders, which are then placed on the homepage (e.g. news)

4. the File list module is used to store documents, photos and other files that are to be displayed on the homepage.

Side tree

The page tree is used to navigate through the website. While the menu is used for navigation in the frontend, the page tree is used for this in the backend.

The page tree represents a hierarchy of the website, similar to the folders in Windows Explorer, for example.

Each page can have any number of subpages . The subpages can be recognized by the indentation.

The small gray triangles can be used to expand and collapse subpages in the page tree, which helps to maintain an overview.

Page types

Different symbols are used depending on the page type .

Text sheet = normal page

Index card = file or data record folder

Text sheet with red prohibition sign = hidden page

Side menu

Click on the icon or right-click to open a menu. Various settings can be made there.

The page can be

  • displayed (1)
  • deleted (5)
  • deactivated or activated (4)

Access to the page properties (2) can be granted, a subpage (3) can be added and much more.

To view the content of the page, click on the page name . The page content can then be seen on the right in the editing area.
