Only work with foreign language page

In exceptional cases, a page may only be operated in the foreign language. In this case, the German pages that are not required can be hidden in TYPO3.

The German pages (default language) are then no longer accessible via the navigation or the search engine.

This guide is waiting to be updated

It

  • shows the current procedure for the Typo3 editors, but
  • may still show old TUK design options that are no longer available
  • or possibly shows the procedure in an older Typo3 version, which is only slightly different.

If you have any questions or to speed up the updating of _this_ guide, please write to rz-typo3(at)rptu.de

Important

  • There must be at least one German homepage that links to the foreign-language site
  • Automatic translations with Campus Lingo into German or French are not possible.

Procedure

  1. Create a German page tree and translate it into the desired foreign language
  2. Hide all German pages as follows(German start page must be retained!)
  3. Hide page properties/behavior/language/localization/default translation
  4. Create a German start page that links to the foreign-language page
  5. Check in localization view that no page has been forgotten
  6. Select module:Info Page tree: Select start page
  7. Select Translation overview from the drop-down menu at the top
  8. Select levels so that the complete page tree is displayed in the editing area
  9. In the "Standard" column, all hidden pages should be highlighted in red and only the start page should be highlighted in green. The desired foreign-language pages should be highlighted in green.

Displaying the front-end view

Please note that after the changeover, the normal display of the page will no longer work or will lead to a 404 error page.

If you want to view one of your pages in the frontend view, you must use the "View page" icon on the English page.
