20/21/01/2025 Updates to Typo3 version 12.4

Dear editors,

on Monday, January 20, and Tuesday, January 21, 2025 *, we will be updating our TYPO3 installations to version 12.4.

During the maintenance work, access to the TYPO3 backend will be temporarily blocked. You will find information on the status below the login window as soon as access is restricted or enabled again.

After the update, you can expect the following changes in the backend:

  • Modernized user interface: the backend presents itself in a tidier and more modern design, which increases clarity and user-friendliness.
  • Updated rich text editor (CKEditor 5): The editor has been updated to the latest version and offers new functions as well as improved integration into the backend.
  • Improved file list with drag-and-drop: The file list now has a tile view and allows files and folders to be moved using drag-and-drop, making file management easier.
  • Optimized backend search: The search function has been improved to enable more efficient work.
  • New "Link validator" module: A new module for checking faulty links on the website has been integrated to ensure the quality of the content.
  • Renaming of grid elements/grids to containers
  • Design adjustments to the opening hours content element including icon representations now with decent city fields

Adjustments by you should not be necessary if you use content elements according to their purpose, with the exception of the opening hours content element (see info box).

Please check your opening hours content elements. From now on, you can enter cities yourself, and telephone numbers must include area codes. This information will no longer be added automatically by the template.

To avoid empty fields after the update, we will insert the content automatically. It may happen that not all entries are correct. Especially for institutions with addresses in Landau and Kaiserslautern, we are unable to fill the fields automatically.
