Explanation of terms

RPTU has signed up to the Federal Framework Agreement 4.0 for Microsoft licensing. This framework agreement, known as the Campus and School Agreement (CASA) or Campus Agreement for short, runs from 01.05.2025 to 30.04.2030.

As of 01.05.2025, the following operating systems are considered qualifying base licenses for new installations of Windows 10/11 Enterprise from the Campus Agreement:

  • Windows 10/11 Professional, Professional for Workstations, Education, Home
  • Windows 8/8.1 Professional
  • Apple macOS

If Windows 10/11 Enterprise was already installed on a device at RPTU before 01.05.2025, this device may continue to be used on the basis of the Software Assurance from the Campus Agreement, even if the qualifying base operating system is older than those mentioned above.

The Product Terms with an effective date of 01.04.2025 apply (see www.microsoft.com/licensing/terms//productoffering/WindowsDesktopOperatingSystem/EES )

An assigned license (device-bound or personal) can only be reassigned after 90 days of inactivity, unless in the case of a device-bound license the device is defective, is written off or is permanently out of service.

"Qualified users of research and teaching" (EQU) are employees or contractual partners (not students) who access or use an educational platform product for the benefit of RPTU.

Microsoft 365 A3 is a so-called education platform. The software products/applications included are therefore called "education platform products".

The main user is anyone who uses a licensed device more than 50% of the time over a period of 90 days.

A privately owned device.

A privately owned device can only be considered a business device if the device is confirmed in writing to be at RPTU's disposal.

A single, physical hardware system that is intended for use by the customer and to which a license has been assigned.

A single server to which a license is assigned.

The M 365 licenses are accessed via a pseudonymized connection to Microsoft (Azure tenant).

You can activate your license via the service portal. You will receive an M 365 account(be sure to make a secure note of your user name and password!), which does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about your RPTU account.
