Introduction of Campus Lingo in fall 2024
We are pleased to announce that we will be launching Campus Lingo this fall. With Campus Lingo, we offer you a powerful solution for translating your websites into English (and French by arrangement).
Campus Lingo translates website content fully automatically into many languages, using DeepL, a recognized AI-based translation service, to deliver accurate and high-quality translations.
What will change for you?
If Campus Lingo is enabled in your page tree, ...
- every new page you create will also be delivered in English. You don't have to do anything.
- Campus Lingo translates a page or content element freshly every time it is changed.
- content elements that you translate in the usual way in Typo3 are ignored by Campus Lingo and delivered on the English page as you created it (prerequisite: connected mode!).
The tool therefore allows you to specifically control the translation of pages and parts of pages. You decide which content should be translated automatically!
If there are fixed terms that DeepL does not translate at RPTU, these can be entered in the DeepL glossary by Unikom with their desired translations.
In the past, translations of our central websites were often not available in the full depth of the page tree and, if available, were not kept as up-to-date as the German pages. In most cases, the necessary resources were not available. This problem is now solved!
Introduction
- We start with the installations of the computer center and the university library and find existing "teething troubles".
- We will then make Campus Lingo available on all Typo3 installations.
- Whether the pages of an institution, a degree program, a project, etc. will be translated automatically will have to be specifically activated by the responsible editors.
We are working on instructions and an FAQ. For editors whose pages are not all in connected mode, we are creating a training video to prepare them optimally for the use of Campus Lingo.
Edit: Campus Lingo has been available to all editors since 12.12.2024
Edit: Since 11.03.2024, the 3rd language French is only available by arrangement for entire department subdomains. The text above has been adjusted accordingly. Questions on this will be answered by unikom-webteam(at)rptu.de .
