Prerequisites:

  • RPTU account or account at another college or university of the Rhineland-Palatinate Computer Center Alliance (RARP)
  • Existing account on our old Overleaf CE instance(https://sharelatex.rz.rptu.de/)
Step by step

Illustrated instructions

for Overleaf CE Migration
Step 1: Register for RARP-Overleaf-CE service

In addition to your existing account on our old Overleaf CE instance (https://sharelatex.rz.rptu.de/), you will need to registeron the new instance (http://overleaf.rarp-kl.de/) and create an account.

Step 2: Download existing projects
  • Log in to our old Overleaf CE instance(https://sharelatex.rz.rptu.de/).

  • Go to the "Your projects" tab on the left-hand side [1].
  • Select all the projects you want to migrate [2].
  • Click on the download button at the top right [3].
Step 3: Unzip the downloaded file
  • Unzip the downloaded file "Overleaf Projects (# items)" (under Windows, right-click on it and select "Extract All").

You should now have a normal folder with several ZIP files in it (one for each of your projects). Each project file is a single, compressed ZIP file named like the project.

If it looks like this, you have unpacked too many times. Simply unpack the originally downloaded archive with the name "Overleaf Projects (# items)" once.
If you have downloaded a single project directly by clicking on the smaller download button next to the project, you may not need to unpack anything.

Step 4: Upload the project to the new instance
  • Log in to the new Overleaf CE instance (https://overleaf.rarp-kl.de/).
  • On the left-hand side, click on "New Project" [1]
  • and select "Upload project" [2].
  • You can now click on the "Select a .zip-file" button and search for the first project file in the pop-up window or simply move your first project file from the folder unzipped in step 2 using drag & drop.

Repeat step 4 for each projectyou want to migrate.
