License activation and registration

Create your Microsoft 365 account(M365 account) to use the local applications

  • local applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • cloud-based versions of these apps for flexible online collaboration and
  • special cloud-based services such as Microsoft Teams for communication and collaboration.

Currently, the use of Microsoft cloud services is only permitted for research (professors and academic staff).
Alternatively, you can create a pseudonymized M365 account to use MS Office without cloud services or web applications.

Log in to the service portal

Open a web browser. You can find the RHRZ service portal at https://serviceportal.rz.rptu.de/.

In the left-hand column, log in with your RPTU account and the corresponding password. Use your RPTU account name as your user name (without @rptu.de)

Switch from Microsoft Apps for Enterprise to Microsoft 365 Cloud

If you have previously used Microsoft Apps for Enterprise with a pseudonymous M365 account, you must deactivate your existing license in the ServicePortal under the menu item "Microsoft 365 Apps" before switching to Microsoft 365 Cloud.

Only after deactivating the license for Microsoft 365 Apps can you activate and use a license for Microsoft 365 Cloud.

Activate M356 cloud account

Once you have successfully logged in, you will find the menu in the left-hand column. Select the menu item "Microsoft 365 Cloud".

The use of Microsoft Cloud services is currently only permitted for research and students .
The menu item is therefore only visible to professors, academic staff and students.

You will now be taken to the page for managing your M365 Cloud account.

Please read the terms of use and data protection information for the M365 Cloud here.

To create an M365 Cloud account, please click on the " CreateMicrosoft365 account" button. The button only becomes active when you confirm that you have read the terms of use. Without this confirmation, you will not be able to create an M365 Cloud account or use it.

After clicking on the button, your M365 Cloud account will be created. This process can take up to 30 minutes. Your RPTU account must be synchronized to the Microsoft Cloud in the background during this process. The following information is transferred from your RPTU account to the Microsoft Cloud: first name, surname, display name, RPTU email address. The password of your RPTU account will not be passed on to Microsoft.

By clicking on the "Refresh view" button, you can determine whether the process has been completed in the meantime.

The username for the M365 Cloud is identical to your RPTU account name followed by @rptu.de. The password for the M365 is your password for the RPTU account.

Logging in to an MS Office application

For example, if you want to use an MS Office application on the remote desktop servers of the RHRZ (win-ts.edu.rptu.de, win-ts.rptu.de, win-ts.zv.rptu.de), you must first log in to the application with your M 365 account.

Open an MS Office application, e.g. MS Word.

Do not use MS Outlook for the first login with your M 365 account. You can set up MS Outlook after you have logged into your account in Word or Excel for the first time.

If you are not yet logged in, a "Log in" button will be displayed in the top menu bar. Click on this.

You will now be asked to enter your M365 account name.

For the actual login, you will be redirected to a local RHRZ server. There, please enter your RPTU account name and your RPTU password.

You can check the successful login in MS Word under the menu item "Account".

Log in to Office.com to use the M365 cloud functionalities

To use Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint or the web versions of the Office applications, please log in at https://www.office.com.

Here you enter your M365 account name in the form RPTU-Accountname@rptu.de.

After entering the M365 account name, you will be redirected to an RHRZ server to enter the password.

Once you have successfully logged in to office.com, you will be taken to the M365 homepage.

Here you can access the web-based versions of the Office applications and use the M365 cloud applications such as Teams, OneDrive or SharePoint.
