Description
The RHRZ Druckausgabe in Kaiserslautern has various printers up to DIN A0 size.
RHRZ Druckausgabe printer queues: A4_SW, A4_Farbe, A3_SW, A3_Farbe
PDF documents up to DIN A0 can be uploaded via the web portal.
A monthly quota of points is made available to all members of the RPTU for the use of these printers.
Depending on the printed page format (size, color or black and white), a corresponding number of points per printed page is deducted from the print credit. A cover sheet is created for each (DIN A4 or DIN A3) print job and charged after printing.
Prerequisites
- You need an RPTU account to use the printing systems at RHRZ.
- There must be a connection to the university network(LAN, WLAN, VPN).
The use of the printers is ...
For example, student accounts are not subsidized by student fees and employee accounts have not yet been billed via cost centers.
Members at RPTU in Kaiserslautern are provided with a monthly points quota for the Druckausgabe service; this credit can be accumulated over the course of the month. Once a semester (on September 1 and March 1), the points credit is reset; any additional credit saved at this time expires.
The costs incurred by the Druckausgabe printing service are continuously monitored. Any resulting adjustments to the print quota regulations are possible at any time. Your print credit is non-refundable or cannot be paid out in cash.
You can view the current status of your print credit via the web portal:
https://druckausgabe.uni-kl.de
The print quotas may only be used for studies, research and teaching or, in the case of accounts of student associations, exclusively for the work of the respective group.
Your print quota will be made available to you personally (in the case of student associations, to a specific group of people) via your RPTU account. Your quota is not transferable to other persons.
Your print job is placed in a queue. The queues at the individual printers are processed during the operating hours of the RHRZ Druckausgabe. Depending on the length of the queue, it can take between 30 minutes and 24 hours to process your job. As soon as your order is printed, you will receive an automatic e-mail notification. As a rule, we can make your completed print jobs available to you on the shelves of the print output room within 1 hour of the time of completion.
By accepting the RHRZ user regulations, you have undertaken to use the resources made available to you by the RHRZ sparingly. In order to maintain this free service for you, the printing costs must be kept within reasonable limits. On the one hand, the general quota system serves this purpose. In addition, however, it is also necessary that you as a user do not use the free points quota in the RHRZ Druckausgabe for private printouts that are no longer required or unnecessarily cost-intensive.
By accepting the RHRZ user regulations, you have undertaken to use the resources made available to you by the RHRZ sparingly. In order to be able to maintain this service free of charge for you, the printing costs must be kept within reasonable limits. (There is no subsidization through tuition fees/semester fees. )
The general quota system serves this purpose. In addition, however, it is also necessary that you as a user do not use the free points quota in the RHRZ Druckausgabe for private printouts that are not (or no longer) needed or are unnecessarily cost-intensive.
Therefore, please observe the following instructions when printing via the central Druckausgabe of the RHRZ.
In the event of repeated improper use, we will have to block you from using the printer.
Avoid ...
Before each print job, please consider whether a printout is actually required for your intended purpose and, if so, to what extent/ in what quality. For example, you can often save print pages/costs by printing 2 document pages on one print page. Please also note that the cover sheets that are produced for each order also incur costs and must be charged to your quota. For very small documents, it may therefore make sense to combine several documents into a single document or print job
. You can cancel orders placed by mistake via the web portal.
The resources of the RHRZ are made available to you exclusively for your university work in studies, research and teaching or for the work of your student associations.
Documents without information content - "white" pages as well as squared, lined pages or pages with only a name and serial number or similar - will be retained. This also applies to graph paper.
Always make sure that your print jobs are covered by your points balance. Please note that an additional page is required per job for the cover sheet, which will only be charged to your credit once the printout has been completed.
When you send a print job, the system checks whether your current print credit is sufficient for the desired printout. If not, the order will be rejected and you will receive a corresponding e-mail notification. All jobs completed up to this point are taken into account for this check (in the web portal under "Latest jobs"). Orders in the queue (in the web portal under "Orders for approval") are not taken into account. As soon as your job is forwarded to a printer for processing by the employees in the RHRZ Druckausgabe, the print credit is checked again. If your print credit is no longer sufficient for the printout, your job will be rejected without notification. The rejected job is listed in the web portal under "Recent jobs" with the status ("Canceled").
Always make the settings in the print dialog carefully. Select the appropriate format and medium. Careless settings can result in a large number of unusable pages. If an incorrect print has already been output, first print a few test pages on the second attempt and/or seek advice from the RHRZ Druckausgabe staff.
Printing directly from the Internet browser or USB stick
When printing directly from the Internet browser as well as when printing files on your USB stick, problems with faulty/incomplete printouts occur again and again.
Therefore, first save the desired document on the hard disk and then open it from there in a fully-fledged PDF reader (not in the Internet browser or a browser-based reader such as Microsoft Edge) in order to print it out.
Punch option is not supported
A hole punch unit is not installed in our devices, so it is not possible to punch holes in your printouts directly when printing, even if the option should be selectable in the driver.
Please bear in mind that it can take between 30 minutes and 24 hours to process your order and, if necessary, select the multifunctional devices (Follow-Me) to print your document for time-critical orders.
Always select the right printer for your intended use or the format you require.

Large format via the web portal
up to DIN A0 (140g paper, 36-inch roll) colored single-sided
You can order large-format documents/posters/plans via the web portal under the menu item "Large format". Oversized printouts are only possible on prior request.
Only upload documents in PDF format.
Many applications have export functions for creating PDF documents from other formats. If the application you are using does not provide an export function or does not provide an adequate one, you can use a PDF printer to create your document via the application's print dialog. Always check the resulting PDF document before uploading it.
Only ever upload 1 document with one page per job.
There are numerous tools and applications that allow you to split PDF documents, or use a PDF printer to create single-page documents from a multi-page document.
Your PDF document is printed in its original output size (scaling: 100%).
The page size is not subsequently adjusted. (In Acrobat Reader, you can see the output size of your document by moving the mouse to the bottom left corner of the application window.)
You will find your poster rolled up in the baskets in the output area (34/256).
